Riva del Garda. Works are going on to organize the
J24 World Championship 2018 which will take place in the waters of Garda Lake
from 24th to 31st August, in the same race course that from 30th May to 3rd
June will also host the 38th Open J24 National Championship, an excellent
opportunity to test the race course and the organization.
Exactly ten years after Cannigione, therefore, the prestigious event
returns to Italy: a great satisfaction for the Italian Class and for all the
J24 crews, which rewards the work and the efforts of these years.
Ten races are scheduled during which many talented crews will take
part, not only attracted by the
extraordinary race field, dominated by constant and sustained winds called “
Peler” and “ Ora”, but also by the splendid scenery of Riva del Garda – which
is located in the northern part of Garda Lake, the so-called Garda Trentino, in
a narrow gorge near the Dolomites- and the renowned organizational skills of
the Fraglia Vela Riva, one of the most prestigious sailing clubs in Italy.
The J24 is one of the most loved and popular Monotype Classes in the
world with 50,000 sailors and over 5,000 boats in almost 40 countries, with a
dynamic competitive activity both at Italian and International level.
"After the last November tour
of the Club, the members of the World Council Meeting recognized the
suitability of the structures and appreciated the professional competence of
the Fraglia Vela Riva.- so explained the President of the Italian Class
J24, Pietro Diamanti –Moreover it was
decided that at the J24 World Championship 2018 the participation will be
limited to 80 boats.
In the period between
the National Open Championship and the J24 World Championship 2018 the boats on
the carts can be left at the Circolo Vela Arco (info@circolovelaarco.com) in a
fenced yard. For more information, contact Matteo (+39 0464 505086) for a total
cost of € 150.00.

After the Winter Championships
which have hardly engaged our Fleets in numerous racing fields, it is

April to early December, and will assign as usual the J24 Trophy to the best

pleasant reconfirmation: on September 29th and 30th, again on Garda Lake, the traditional Italian Cup will
be held by the Circolo Nautico Brenzone. We will continue with the National

novelty: the trip to the beautiful Golfo Aranci where on 10th and 11th November, the Olbia Section of the
Italian Navy League will host the National Regatta. The 2018 Circuit will end
with the Pugliese reconfirmation of the National Regatta in the welcoming
harbor of Mar Grande proposed on December 1st and 2nd by the Sailing Club
Ondabuena Academy of Taranto.
"The J24 Class represents a
piece of the Sail History and proves to be always very lively and widespread
throughout the world - commented the President of Fraglia Vela Riva,
Giancarlo Mirandola - after hosting the
National Championships in Riva del Garda in 1999 and in 2009 it is really an
honor to be able to organize the World Cup and the National Championship in the
same year. "
